When building a YouTube community, it’s important to understand how viewers interact with videos and what motivates them to engage. Think of the community that you belong to – your book club, your sports team or your college alumni group – and what qualities they have that make it a special place that people want to join. These same qualities can be applied to your YouTube channel.
Creating compelling, educational, and amusing content is the first step to growing a strong community. However, this isn’t enough alone. It’s also important to be consistent with your story, content types, and posting frequency. This creates a sense of trust and commitment with your viewers and keeps them coming back for more.
To encourage interaction, try hosting Q&A sessions on your channel. Post the Q&A on your Community tab, and invite your audience to leave questions in the comments. Be sure to respond to their questions, and consider asking them for feedback on future content as well.
You can also use your Community posts to share more casual updates, such as sneak-peaks or personal notes with your viewers. This can be a great way to show your audience that you are human and help them feel connected with the brand. If a viewer leaves a comment on one of your community posts, you can use the heart icon to show them that you appreciate their thoughts and comments.
